Most organizations severely underestimate what it takes to validate data. They often don’t consider how much historical data is needed or what other items need to be accounted for. The best way to make sure data validation is smooth and mostly uneventful is to take a planned and considered approach. In this session, TopDown Consulting’s Juan Porter, Founder and Chief Solutions Officer, and Brian Willson, Solution Director, will draw on 20+ years of finance and EPM experience to discuss the best approach to validating your financial data, including where to start, how much historical data to load, data validations, and requirements. After this, they will spend a good deal of time on the process, looking at things such as: how to define it, what does it look like, how to confirm dataloads, order for our review, parent entities and parent accounts, hierarchies, and finally, translation and eliminations. This session will include tips, tricks, gotchas, and workarounds to make sure each month’s validation will be smoother and quicker.
